Editorial Policy

Independence

CDL List is an independent educational reference site. Content decisions — what topics to cover, how to present regulatory information, which official sources to cite — are made based solely on reader utility and accuracy, not commercial relationships.

We do not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or affiliate partnerships with CDL schools, compliance software vendors, insurance providers, or other commercial entities. No advertiser or third party influences our editorial content.

Content scope

CDL List covers federal CDL licensing requirements, driver qualification file rules, FMCSA Clearinghouse obligations, ELDT requirements, DOT medical certification, and related compliance topics for small trucking fleets and owner-operators in the United States.

We do not cover CDL job listings, CDL school rankings, salary data, or career advice. We do not cover non-CDL topics. See our About page for the full scope.

Accuracy standards

Every substantive compliance claim on this site is supported by a citation to an official government source: the eCFR (Electronic Code of Federal Regulations), FMCSA, IRS, DOL, or official state agency websites. Pages without adequate source support are marked noindex until sourced.

We distinguish between:

  • Established regulatory requirements — stated as factual with source citation
  • Interpretive guidance — flagged as our reading of the regulation, with a recommendation to verify
  • State-specific information — linked to official state sources; we do not fabricate state rules

No professional advice

Nothing on CDL List constitutes legal advice, tax advice, medical advice, or compliance consulting. This site provides educational summaries of publicly available regulatory information. Readers are responsible for verifying current requirements with FMCSA, their state DMV/MVA, and qualified professionals as appropriate to their situation.

Conflict of interest disclosure

CDL List has no financial relationship with any CDL school, training provider, compliance software company, drug testing consortium, medical examiner, or trucking association. We do not receive referral fees or commissions for any recommendation or link on this site.

We correct factual errors promptly. If you identify an error, please submit it via our corrections page. We will review and update content as quickly as practical, and we acknowledge corrections on the affected page where appropriate.
